Occupational Therapists employ a client centred approach, collaborating with adults to identify their unique goals and devise rehabilitation programmes that cater to their specific needs enabling them to optimise daily functioning by:

  • supporting clients to relearn basic skills for example self-care 

  • enabling them to rebuild strength and coordination

  • providing strategies to manage symptoms and minimise pain 

  • incorporating techniques to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other psychological difficulties

  • integrating meaningful activities into therapy sessions to promote physical function, emotional resilience and a sense of accomplishment

  • maintaining or restoring engagement in meaningful activities to support cognitive vitality and social connection

  • providing specialist equipment to maximise function and independence.

Overall, Occupational Therapy enhances the lives of individuals by promoting physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives across various life stages and circumstances.
