From my experience, timing is everything when it comes to exterior paint jobs! We learned the hard way, attempting a touch-up in late autumn and it was a disaster because the paint wouldn't dry properly. It really does need to be a specific time and I think summer is best, but I agree that it can't be scorching. For us in London, finding reliable exterior painters london who understand the local climate was important. They actually recommended late spring or early summer, when it's warm enough for the paint to cure properly but before the really intense heat sets in. They also stressed the importance of avoiding days with high humidity or rain. Ultimately we followed their advice which worked out very well.
